***This free Summer Camp is for families with financial restraints only*** Thank you to the San Diego Lion's Club for their generous support!
Peaceful sounds of nature, fresh mountain air, and the sun rising over calm water; all the components of a perfect morning at Summer Camp for many boys and girls. STAR/PAL’s 6th Annual Summer Camp was held at Camp Cuyamaca in the Cuyamaca Mountains in the Summer of 2007 for incoming 6th graders. Boys and girls will arrive with great expectations as well as doubts when they realize how many law enforcement officers will be volunteering. But as attitudes and stereotypes begin to disappear, good times and understanding will be found. Activities during the day include fishing, hiking, swimming, volleyball and much more. Appetites will be large, meals will be hearty and the dining hall will always emphasize table manners. Many of these youth come from rough neighborhoods and threatening environments. Summer Camp takes these kids out of their element and encourages teamwork, instills trust, demonstrates the power of support and creates lasting friendships. Perspectives are shaped from experiences, and STAR/PAL hopes that our Summer Camp provides these unforgettable moments that stay with us. These are the moments that help develop positive attitudes, inner strength and acceptance for others. By the end of the week, kids, counselors and volunteers alike will be left with more smiles, more friendships and more moments to take with them.
