STAR/PAL Sports Clinics

Chargers Junior Training Camps

The San Diego Chargers, Gatorade and STAR/PAL team up to offer football camps for STAR/PAL youth. Camps are held during the fall with each camp serving 100 boys and girls. Gatorade is the title sponsor for these camps and San Diego Charger Football players along with local law enforcement officers and firefighters volunteer their time to work with youth. Basketball Fundamentals Clinic

Volunteer coaches from San Diego Police and Park & Recreation work together to teach fundamental skills for basketball through STAR/Pal's Basketball Fundamentals Clinic. Boys and girls ages 8-13 years old are divided into groups according to skill level. All youth participants receive lunch and a t-shirt. Space is limited and registration is always expected to fill up quickly. For more information contact STAR/PAL at 619-531-2718.

Cheerleading Skills Clinic

STAR/PAL's Cheerleading clinic is offered at the Municipal in Balboa Park for girls and boys ages 8-15. This half day clinic is held in October and teaches the fundamentals of cheerleading. The clinics is free and sign-ups will be available at your local recreation center or by calling STAR/PAL at 619-531-2718.

Soccer Fundamentals Clinic

Volunteer coaches from the U.S. Marshals Service and San Diego Probation & Police Departments work together to teach boys and girls the basics of soccer for this one-day clinic. Professional soccer players from the San Diego Gauchos will be also on hand to help teach soccer skills. Each youth participant (ages 6-12 years old) receives a t-shirt and soccer ball to take home with them. For more information contact Officer Tim Smith at tmsmith@pd.sandiego.gov

Padres Rookie Camps

Padres Rookie Camps are held in the spring to prepare boys and girls for summer ball leagues by teaching them the fundamentals needed. The San Diego Padres provide hats, t-shirts, and a trip to watch the Padres play for all youth participants. They also bring players to volunteer!
