Position: Coordinator of Program Partnerships & Resources
Status: Full-time, with benefits
Supervisor: Executive Director
Salary: Commensurate with experience

STAR/PAL (Sports Training, Academics, Recreation/Police Athletic League): We are a nonprofit organization which provides over 10,000 youth services every year in inner-city and underserved areas of San Diego. Law enforcement program directors and other staff provide a variety of educational, athletic, and recreational programs on site (at our facility in City Heights) and off site (throughout the County), all of which focus on crime and juvenile deliquency prevention. Through the organization's unique partnership with the San Diego Police Department and the County Probation Department, STAR/PAL assists youth to stay in school, get involved in positive activities, and realize their potential to succeed.

The Coordinator of Program Partnerships & Resources works directly for the STAR/PAL Executive Director. This position is responsible for securing a broad base of financial and community support for STAR/PAL youth programs, operations, and services through grants, fundraising events, and corporate sponsorships. This position also oversees partnerships, marketing, public relations, and communications.

Sports Training, Academics & Recreation/Police Athletic League

STAR/PAL is a nonprofit organization that provides over 10,000 youth services annually, for children ages 6-17, in underserved and inner-city neighborhoods throughout the city and county of San Diego with opportunities otherwise not afforded to them. STAR/PAL offers free educational, athletic and recreational programs catering to the different ages and needs of children living in our community. STAR/PAL programs are always free of charge and embody positive youth development while promoting academic success through structured activities and mentorship. All STAR/PAL Program Directors are full-time law enforcement officers who coordinate youth programs, recruit additional law enforcement and community volunteers that work directly with youth.

STAR/PAL Goals
  • Contribute to the decrease in juvenile crime & violence.
  • Develop positive relationships between young people and role models from the entire community.
  • Provide positive and structured leisure time opportunities and encourage youth participation.
