Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Builder Award


We are thrilled to announce that STAR/PAL is the fortunate recipient of this award for 2011! Bank of America's Neighborhood Builders Award strengthens the capacity and infrastructure of nonprofit organizations and promotes the leadership development of their executives. Awardees are provided with $100,000 in support annually for two years. In addition, the executive director and an emerging leader from each nonprofit participate in a leadership development program during the first year of funding.

State Farm Go To Bat Award

STAR/PAL has been selected as the recipient of the State Farm Go To Bat Award and was recognized on Friday, July 29 at PETCO Park in a pre-game ceremony.

This monthly award is being given to deserving organizations in the San Diego community who has shown support and commitment to building stronger communities. State Farm makes it their business to be like a good neighbor, helping to improve the quality of life in the communities where their associates live and work.

MetLife Foundation Community-Police Partnership Award

STAR/PAL, the San Diego Police Department and the County of San Diego Probation Department were recognized by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and MetLife Foundation for having one of the most innovative and effective community safety alliances in the country. STAR/PAL was selected for the MetLife Foundation Community-Police Partnership Award from more than 700 applicants nationwide. The Award recognizes partnerships between community organizations and police departments that have reduced crime and spurred positive development in low-income communities.

Wadie Deddeh Community Service Award

An award named after retired State Senator Wadie Deddeh, is presented to a person or group that has consistently given back to the community and has served as a beacon of hope for those who need a helping hand or a push in the right direction. This person or group makes its mark for its generosity and kind acts of charity, big or small. STAR/PAL was the recipient for 2010!

The Betty Peabody Award

STAR/PAL is thrilled to be chosen for the 2010 Betty Peabody Award by the San Diego Crime Stoppers! The Betty Peabody Award is awarded to a civilian individual or organization that has helped law enforcement fight crime and promote public safety. Recipients of this award are recognized for the positive impact they have made on the quality of life in San Diego.
