Welcome to STAR/PAL!

COVID-19 Update as of May 4, 2020

Students, friends, families and supporters of STAR/PAL:

With the continuation of the Stay and Home Order at the direction of our California Governor, Gavin Newsom, STAR/PAL’s City Heights Center to Serve Youth and on-site programming will remain closed. We are still here to serve the community, and are proactively seeking resources for our students and families during this time.

We have resumed several programs in an online classroom, with over 150 students receiving virtual mentoring from our law enforcement officers. These programs include: Making Changes, We Can, Life Skills, and our Strikers Soccer Team.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these unprecedented times. Please stay safe and healthy, and if you have any questions or concerns please reach me anytime at clebeau@starpal.org or (619) 531-2559.

COVID-19 Update as of March 13, 2020

Students, friends, families and supporters of STAR/PAL:

With the announcement by the San Diego Unified School District to close school for at least three weeks (3/16 – 4/6), STAR/PAL will close our City Heights programming effective 3/14/2020 through the 4/6/2020 timeframe. We are still here to serve the community, and are proactively seeking resources for our students and families during this time.

We will assess if the 4/6 closure end date needs extension based upon school district decisions and County Health Department advisement. Our Celebrity Waiter Luncheon set for May 1st will also most likely be postponed for a later date to be determined.

While not an easy decision, maintaining public health and safety of our youth, families and communities makes the choice 100% clear.

The STAR/PAL Mission:

The mission of STAR/PAL is to empower underserved youth to build a safer and more prosperous community by engaging with law enforcement and collaborative partners.
