STAR/PAL, with the support of the San Diego Padres, runs a series of Padres Baseball Camps each year in the spring and summer months throughout the County of San Diego. Each Padres Camp gives approximately 50 youth participants, ages 8-14, from STAR/PAL programs, local schools, and other community youth organizations the opportunity to learn the basics of baseball and run drills with volunteers from various law enforcement and public safety agencies.
During the camp, youth participants hear from law enforcement officers and professional athletes about the importance of academics, healthy choices, and fitness. The following day, participants will attend a Padres baseball game at Petco Park with STAR/PAL officers and other law enforcement volunteers. Much like our Jr. Chargers Training Camps, these camps help local youth in underserved communities realize what it takes to go above and beyond in order to excel and accomplish their future goals, as well as promote positive interaction between youth and local law enforcement officers in a team sport environment.
